Summary:
Responsible for preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary vitals and reporting patient history summary.
Assists provider in set up for minor medical procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1.
Ensures that all recent consults, labs and diagnostic tests are in the chart prior to the provider seeing the patient.
2.
Ensures that each exam room has adequate supplies to complete all necessary procedures and keeps all exam rooms and back-office areas neat and clean.
3.
Escorts patient to the exam room and notifies the provider that the patient is ready.
4.
Interviews the patient to obtain information related to why the patient is here, obtains vital signs, weight, and height.
Records chief complaint.
5.
Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
6.
Collects blood, tissue or other lab specimens, logs the specimens, and prepares them for testing.
Ensures that patient information and all required code sets are present for proper billing of tests.
7.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients and obtain consents and/or ABN as appropriate.
8.
Assists physicians in examinations and/or treatment of patients.
(handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures) Performs other tasks as assigned.
9.
Employee can perform procedures such as EKG's, Spirometry testing, Ear Lavage's, Holter Monitors.
Demonstrates proper usage of O2 Equipment.
10.
Verify all requests for drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
11.
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
Remaining compliant with OSHA and the Health Department standards as per company manuals.
12.
Change dressings on wounds as treatment by provider.
13.
Contact medical facilities or ancillary departments to schedule patients for tests or admission as ordered by the provider.
14.
Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies and equipment on a monthly basis.
Follows office policy and procedure regarding disposal of expired supplies, meds, etc 15.
Completes all other assignments as assigned including but not limited to call backs, diagnostic results, lab duties, filing and pulling charts, etc.
16.
Customer Service - Greets all pts with a smile, listens intently and responds politely in a timely manner.
Ensures pts needs are met at all times and treats everyone with respect.
17.
Work amicably with others.
18.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:

Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
MA Certificate / EMT, RN, LPN CPR/First Aid Certification Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of the structure of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar are imperative for the accurate documentation/recording of information.
Must have knowledge of medical terminology and be able to follow patient care procedures.
Customer and Personal Service:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Will be involved with resolving conflicts and negotiating with others.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and the patient database.
